Many years ago I crashed into a deaf boy with my toboggan. I was yelling for him to get out of the way, but he couldn't hear me. It was an accident, but the incident is woven into the fabric of my being. Sometimes we do things that we don't intend to do and other people get hurt. Often there is nothing we can do to fix it, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try. Unreconciled mistakes can fester and grow in our subconscious. You might not even know what's causing the pain, but like a sliver, it lingers below the surface until you open it up and clean the wound. Every day is a good day to examine your conscience.
