“What you focus on expands, and when you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it. Opportunities, relationships, even money flowed my way when I learned to be grateful no matter what happened in my life.” Oprah Winfrey

Every month at the Positive Thinkers Network (PTN), we close our meetings with the affirmation, “What you think about, you bring about.” It’s a powerful declaration of our intent to create the life that we desire. It’s the Law of Attraction at work. So, how can YOU manifest what you want out of life? Start by looking within yourself. Consider your goals, your values, and the things that make your life worth living. Start with what you have and begin to imagine what you want your life to look like this year, in five years, ten years, etc.

Whether you want to create positive relationships, brilliant opportunities or flowing finances, take the time to envision all of those things. Leave yourself room to grow with the affirmation: “This or something better.” When we are open to our highest and best possibilities, we are often surprised at how much better situations turned out than we could have imagined.

One helpful and fun method to realizing your life’s goals is creating a vision board. What is a vision board? Simply put, it’s a poster with pictures representing all of the things you want to attract into your life. Of course, if you don’t want to make a poster, a scrap book or sheets of paper work equally well.

How do you make a vision board? Go through old magazines, newspapers or print out pictures you find online which represent the vision of your ideal life. Create different categories - Career, Spiritual, Relationships, Material, etc. - whatever resonates with you. Cut out pictures and paste them on the board. Try to find pictures that bring out emotion in you - when you look at the image, you immediately feel “YES, that’s it!” Make sure you put a picture of yourself on your board so you can visualize yourself in receipt of all that goodness. Place your board where you can see it every day and imagine what it will feel like when you possess or attain that particular item or attribute.

We can all agree that Oprah is a pretty successful woman, and yet when you read her story, you realize that she was certainly not silver-spoon fed. Oprah made a decision to concentrate on the goodness that she had in her life, and by starting there, she was able to create an empire.

Maybe we won’t climb as high on the financial ladder as the Oprah’s of the world, but we can all learn to focus on the good stuff.

When we feel down, the vision board is an immediate pick-me-up. Any type of vision board will work — mine was created on PowerPoint and then I took pictures of it with my iPhone. I can look at my board any time I want, as it’s always with me.

Have fun,

Lisa
