Winners are on time. To create success and excellence in your life, make a commitment to be on time. If you say and agree with someone to be there at 11:00am, then be there at 10:45am. How many times in your life have you seen people every single day frantically running across the parking lot just so that they can get to work on time. It happens every, single day. Rushing around like you crazy just so you can be on time. How about getting up earlier and leaving your house earlier so that you have plenty of time to get to work. What a concept. However, most people do not live with this credo. Just think about how your day goes when it begins like this. Rush, rush, rush, rush, rush - then when you get behind the wheel, you drive like your crazy all in an attempt to get to work, or appointment on time. A lot of the time, this is due to poor planning or just plain laziness or just a chronically late person. All this does is create stress and pressure that you really don't want to have in life. This speaks loudly for the type of person that you are. In my 9 years in the transit industry, I began as a vehicle operator and progressed to a district safety manager in a short period of time. It all began with how I came to work everyday as a vehicle operator. I was never late. I never missed a day, and I never refused an assignment. Knowing these few principles, how do you show up everyday? Do you show up on time or do you show up before time? Companies like to promote from within. However, for the opportunity to take place, you must begin now and be excellent in everything you do. This begins with being on time, every single day. Can you imagine going to a job interview and showing up late or not at all. What is that potential employer thinking about you. Of course - if this person cannot show up on time for an interview, why would I want to hire them? After being in the corporate world for over 23 years, being on time is on of the greatest measurements that managers use to determine if the person gets hired or promoted to a better and more loftier position. So, in closing, "Winners are on time." Commit to being on time and being punctual for any event that you attend including job interviews, work, functions, family functions, friend functions, etc. No matter what it is, be on time.
