"Do not go where the path may lead, but go where there is no path and leave a trail." --- Ralph Waldo Emerson. Good day and thank you for spending time with me today. Ralph Waldo Emerson has summed up today's topic of what it means to developing leadership in your life. In the social mirror, it is commonplace for the masses of people to be followers and not leaders. Are leaders born or are they developed? At this point and time it doesn't matter what the answer is. What matters is what are you doing right now to develop leadership in your life. To take things to a higher level in life, it is necessary that you develop qualities of leadership to produce success and excellence in your life. Every great company that has been in existence all started with a person who had a vision of greatness and a dream of success. Many people went where there was no path. Many people pressed on despite having people around them saying that --- "You can't do it." Many people pressed on despite the circumstances around them. These people had and developed the qualities of leadership that we all truly have inside ourselves. The difference between leaders and followers is determined by the very thoughts and course of action in a person's mind. We are all born with the qualities and the recipe to be a leader. However, the difference is this --- who brings it out. The people who are true leaders have exercised their freedom of choice in developing those qualities. The followers have not and chose to exercise their freedom of choice when it comes to following. Many people are followers because they shy away and are fearful of the great responsibility that leadership demands. Not only is there a great responsibility, but there is also an accountability factor that goes along with it. Responsibility is the obligation to act. Accountability is taking responsibility for what has or hasn't happened. I have been in positions of leadership and it is certainly not an easy thing to do. However, the lessons that I have learned about myself and others has been priceless. It can be a tough thing to do but it is worth it. When it comes to personal leadership, you must be a leader in your own life. Stop following the crowd. Stop being like sheep being herded by a shepherd. Stop following the herd of cattle going to the slaughterhouse. Lead you life on principle and develop those principles inside yourself so that you can experience true success and excellence in every area of your life. In closing, I wish you well on your journey of success and excellence and begin now to develop the qualities of leadership in your life so that you can experience and live your purpose and to leave a legacy that others will be proud to follow.
