In the last issue, I talked about having a whatever it takes attitude as the number one factor to determine your success. Why? Because if you have that, it will enable you to overcome any obstacles and any “stuck” points, etc. Although having that attitude is the most important, it’s certainly not the only thing you need to have. So, what are all the ingredients to being really successful? In other words, what’s the secret sauce? I believe, the ingredients are: You have to want it more than any excuses. You have to know why you want it. You have to be 100% committed to it. You have to believe you can achieve it. You have to believe in yourself. You have to take the appropriate action. You have to have faith. You have to be ready to have it. If any of those ingredients are missing, you’ll end up frustrated, confused and wondering why things aren’t working out. So, for the rest of this series, I will take one of them and talk about it in more detail, starting right now. Know What You Want! Many years ago, one of my mentors said to me, “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there.” When you think about that, it’s simple, but it’s quite profound. If you don’t know where you’re going, one of two things will happen. Either you’ll never leave your present location or you’ll get lost a lot along the way and continually have to restart and you’ll end up somewhere, but not where you wanted to be. The point is that you don’t want to end up like a pinball, bouncing from one thing to the next, to the next, at the mercy of whatever you happen to bump up against. So you have to begin with the end in mind. You have to see where your final destination is and then you’ll be able to plot out a clear path to reaching it. That brings me to the point of this issue. What do you want? What you want is the end goal that you’re working towards having. This is a critical foundational step to success. Most people never figure this out. Or, if they know what they want, they don’t give themselves permission to go on out and get it. So, your assignment is to sit down and figure out what you want. Don’t censor yourself. Don’t hold back. Just keep going until what you’ve come up with makes you excited, inspires you and gets your blood pumping. To help you with that, here are a few tips. 1. Suspend all disbelief. 2. Forget your past. It’s over. 3. Know that you can’t fail. 4. Know you have all the support you need. Please do share what you come up with. I’d love to hear it. Maybe it will inspire others as well. So that’s it for this issue. May you be blessed beyond belief and may all that you wish for be the least that you get.
