Managers should address people who rob the energy of their coworkers. Many managers fail to confront, supervise, and/or possibly fire this person because of all of the time and energy they feel this will take. After all, documentation of supervision leading to discharging employees does require effort. One way of approaching this difficult situation is to assess how much time this person is robbing from your team. Are your team members constantly having to withstand interrupted meetings and painful, long explanations of why things must not change? Does your staff have to debrief after meeting with this person rather than immediately moving forward with project related activities? Think of the time you will add to productivity and progress by removing the impediment! Take back your team's time and watch your team's morale and productivity grow!
